GEAR LIST

Rio
Tucanes and Rio Dorado: 9’ # 6  or 7 wt rods with tropical  or bass bug floating lines and 9’ leaders tapered to 12 lbs with a brace of 15 lb wire leader. For Sabalo we recommend a 9’ # 4 to 6 wt line with 12’ leader tapered to 8 lbs.

Rio Juramento: 9’ # 8 to 10 wt rods with tropical WF floating line with clear tip and 7’ leader tapered to 20 lbs and a brace of 30 lb wire leader.

Clothing: Long sleeved pants and shirts are a MUST.  Strong lightweight and COMFORTABLE wading shoes with sticky rubber soles are mandatory for wading days and float and any shoe you don't mind getting wet is good for the floats.

Fingerless sun gloves and buff head mask are also highly recommended to protect against the sun and no see hums.  Bring a good pair of polarized sunglasses in copper tone and if you can bring an extra pair with yellow tone glasses for low light conditions, even better.

Accessories

2 rolls each of 15 and 30 lb wire leader, preferable Tyger wire or American fishing wire multi strand

12 and 20 lb class tippet material

Pliers with GOOD quality wire cutters

Nippers

Sunblock

Lens cleaning cloth

Extra wire roll

Extra tippet roll

Flies for Dorado and Sabalo

Camera

Pocket size binoculars

Extra rods

Backpack for carrying your day food while wading

Flies, flies and more flies

Flies:   The guides are well stocked with flies but they charge $ 5 for each fly you use from them as these flies are very hard to tie and require a lot of materials and expensive hooks.  Dorado will brake you off or chew your fly to death, so expect to go through at least 6-10 flies per day.
We have a good selection of flies at the Lodge.
